What is an Electrical Load Calculation?
An electrical load calculation is a formal calculation completed by one of our qualified electricians to determine what your home's electrical capacity is. Even if your home has a 200 amp electrical panel, you may not have room for an EV charger if you already have a hot tub and two heat pumps. We leave no room for doubt or error: the calculation is literally by the book, and we follow the latest Canadian Electrical Code standards for determining your home's electrical capacity.

Do I Need an Electrical Load Calculation
You need an electrical load calculation if you're considering adding any of the following to your home:
- Level 2 EV Charger
- Heat Pump
- Hot Tub
- Bigger hot water tank
- Additional baseboard or in-floor heating
The more information you have (like specifications), the better. We'll get it figured out down to the Watt.

How Does the Calculation Work?
An electrical load calculation isn't as simple as adding up the values of all of your circuit breakers. Different electrical loads in your home are weighted differently based primarily on how often they are used. In electrician's talk, we call these continuous and non-continuos loads. For example, electric heating (baseboard, heat pumps) are weighted at 100%, while things like hot water tanks and clothes dryers are weighted less. The area of your home is also taken into account, as well as several other factors.

What If It's Bad News?
